Steve Dilbeck (@stevedilbeck) of the LA Times highlights Clayton Kershaw’s one hitter that clinched the NL West for the dodgers…

Led by a masterful Clayton Kershaw one-hitter and three solo home runs off Giants ace Madison Bumgarner, the Dodgers finally clinched the National League West on Tuesday with an 8-0 victory at San Francisco’s AT&T Park.

The Dodgers have now won their division three consecutive years for the first time in franchise history.

The Dodgers all but limped into Tuesday’s game, having lost four consecutive games and eight of their last 10. The title seemingly inevitable, they looked like a team that had lost its edge.

Dan Steinberg (@dcsportsbog) of the Washington Post on Nationals manager Matt Williams and what he will do in the wake of the Harper/Paplebon fiasco…

With the most disappointing season in Nationals history winding down amid a host of questions about the future, Manager Matt Williams was asked directly on Wednesday if he has gotten any indication whether he will be back for a third season with the club.

“I have not spoken to anybody in that regard, because we have games to play,” Williams told the Junkies during his weekly appearance on 106.7 The Fan. “We’ve got games to continue to play and finish out the season. And right now’s not the appropriate time for those conversations, for questions, or any of that. Right now, we’ve got games left; we have to play those games.

Mike Puma (@NYPost_Mets) of the New York Post discusses Steven Matz being pushed back due to back soreness…

Steven Matz awoke with a sore back Tuesday, but the Mets insist they aren’t losing sleep over the matter.

After incurring stiffness in the right side of his back, the rookie will receive an extra day of rest and pitch Thursday against the Phillies. Logan Verrett will be moved up a day to pitch Wednesday.

Matz missed six weeks after tearing a lat muscle earlier this season, but the injury occurred on the left side of his back.

Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) also of the New York Post on how the Yankees reliance on Alex Rodriguez is hurting them at the worst time…

Rodriguez gave the Yankees more than they ever could have envisioned. Yet, they need more. Might not be able to survive without getting it. And the signs are not great that he has enough left in his 40-year-old body to bring anything meaningful in this Yankees moment of need. Actually, in this moment of desperation.

The Yankees lost again to the Red Sox, falling 10-4 Tuesday night. They remain in a still-commanding position to earn a wild card, but by being unable to finalize a clinch they are wasting valuable time to rest the overused bodies of Brian McCann, Carlos Beltran and Brett Gardner, and the arms of Justin Wilson, Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller.
